She died September 10, 2006, at Good Samaritan in Alliance. She was born August 2, 1919, in Berea, the daughter of Jacob and Bertha Kraft. She attended school in Berea through the eighth grade. At that time she contracted polio, which forced her to quit. She later completed her GED through Nebraska Educational TV and graduated from Hemingford High School in 1973. She removed her leg braces on her wedding day so she could walk down the aisle, marrying Glen L. Moravek on June 3, 1942, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. They made their home ranching southwest of Hemingford where she worked side by side with Glen in the hay fields and other ranching duties. In 1954 polio again attacked her body and put her into leg braces for the rest of her life. After her husband's death in 1971 she continued ranching until 1977, when she moved to Hemingford. She was a member of the Hemingford United Methodist Church, High View Club, Energetic Club, Paint Club, and Eastern Star. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and quilting. She made hundreds of lap robes and stuffed toys for the hospital auxiliary, and hand quilted more than 120 quilts. She loved to play the piano and work in her garden. For twenty years she was the reporter of the Village Voice for the Hemingford Ledger. She is survived by four sons, A. James Moravek (Charlotte) of Alliance, Milton Moravek of Grand Island, Robert Moravek (Rita) of Alliance, and Gail Moravek (Cyndi) of Shoshoni, Wyoming; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother, Clarence Kraft, and sister, Dorothy Beckhoff.
