Read More	LAKE CITY - Eileen Ferguson, 95, died Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City. Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City is assisting the family. Eileen was born on February 22, 1918, in Anamosa, Iowa to Harry and Daisy (Maxson) Chase. She attended Lenox Junior College in Hopkinton, IA, and summer school at the University of Iowa. She taught for five years in a country school and two years in a primary school in Center Junction, Iowa. On August 12, 1942, she was married to Paul Ferguson in Center Junction. Eileen was a member of the Lake City Union Church, the Women's Circle, the Stewart Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Monday Club and Bridge Club. Throughout her more than 60 years in Lake City, Eileen enjoyed painting, quilting, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, trying new recipes and collecting the many treasures that filled her home. She played bridge with friends and worked behind the scenes in support of her church, Stewart Memorial Hospital and the community of Lake City. Eileen also had a life-long interest in the wider world; she was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. Eileen was a loyal fan of the Hawkeyes, Cubs and Lawrence Welk, spending many enjoyable hours watching them whenever they were on television. Her primary loyalty, however, was to her family, which was always at the center of her life. Nowhere was this better demonstrated than in her commitment to her husband, Paul, during the last, difficult years of his life, or in the joy that was apparent in her face when family or friends would arrive for a visit. Her entire family has wonderful memories of time spent together; eating, playing games, sharing holiday traditions and counting the deer in the field behind her house.Her great grandchildren will remember her as the 'cookie grandma'. Eileen also had a wonderful sense of humor. During family gatherings she was teased more than once about the fact her hearing wasn't what it used to be and that she kept the house rather warm, but she gave it right back when taking great delight in announcing she had just cheated in a game and got away with it! Eileen was truly the heart and soul of the Ferguson family and will be missed by all who knew her. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Bob Ferguson (wife, Judy Ferguson) of Storm Lake, daughter, Kathy Anderson (husband, Gordy Anderson) of Northfield, MN, grandchildren, Sarah Hobson (husband, Russ Hobson), Rob Ferguson (wife, Glenis Padilla-Plaza), Emily Ferguson, Kelly Anderson (Kelli Nowak), Jackie Anderson (husband, David Hanson), great-grandchildren, Joseph and Aislin Hobson, great-granddaughter on the way, Nora Hanson, and sister Holly Wirtner, along with several nieces and nephews, cousins, a host of neighbors and friends. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, and sister Imogene Bailey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: the Lake City Pool Fund.
