She graduated from Lompoc High School and received a Bachelor's degree from Santa Barbara State Teachers College. She did graduate work at the University of Hawaii, Pttsburgh State College and Washburn University. Mrs. Carey taught school in Lompoc, CA, the Hawaiian Islands and Independence KS. Read More	Eileen Donovan Carey Obituary Eileen Carey, Topeka, died Thursday Dec. 11, 2003. Mrs. Carey was born May 10, 1912 at Santa Barbara CA, the daughter of Thomas and Helen Hourihan Donovan. She graduated from Lompoc High School and received a Bachelor's degree from Santa Barbara State Teachers College. She did graduate work at the University of Hawaii, Pttsburgh State College and Washburn University. Mrs. Carey taught school in Lompoc, CA, the Hawaiian Islands and Independence KS. She retired in 1977 from McEachron School in Topeka. She was a member of American Association of University Women, Topeka Retired Teachers Association, Kansas Retired Teachers Association, Fidelis Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, Friends of Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, and Christ the King Catholic Church. She was a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital for 12 years after she retired from teaching. She was married George Paul Carey on November 11, 1950 in Tulsa OK. He survives. Other survivors include one sister, Helen Donovan, Santa Maria CA and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2003 at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, 1515 SW 10th Topeka, KS 66604.
