Eileen was born on April 23, 1924 to Arthur and Ida (Howey) Johnson in Meckling, South Dakota. She graduated from Meckling High School in 1942 and was united in marriage with Leroy P Johnson in September 1942. Eileen worked alongside her husband on the farm and they enjoyed going on camping trips, dancing, and playing cards. They were blessed with one son, Larry Kim. Read More	Eileen Ruth Johnson, 93, of Vermillion, South Dakota passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 at Sanford Care Center in Vermillion. Eileen was born on April 23, 1924 to Arthur and Ida (Howey) Johnson in Meckling, South Dakota. She graduated from Meckling High School in 1942 and was united in marriage with Leroy P Johnson in September 1942. Eileen worked alongside her husband on the farm and they enjoyed going on camping trips, dancing, and playing cards. They were blessed with one son, Larry Kim. Both Leroy and Larry passed away in 1993. Eileen was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and later attended Peace Presbyterian Church in Yankton, South Dakota. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge. Eileen loved to travel and in later years, took a train trip across Canada, went to Alaska, and also visited several countries in Europe. Eileen married Walter Schaeffer in 2008. They spent many enjoyable winters in Texas. He passed away in 2011. She is survived by; a sister; Shirley Ruth of Memphis, Missouri; a brother; Robert (Natalie) Johnson of Vermillion, South Dakota; two sister in laws; one brother in law; one step-son; one step-daughter; many nieces and nephews and special friends; Dale and Lisa Johnson. She was preceded in death by; her two husbands, a son, Larry Kim Johnson; her parents, a brother, Howard Johnson; and three sisters, Ardis Johnson at age of 2, Harriet Randall, and Virginia Cuka.
