Description	:	Long time Wenatchee Valley resident, Eileen Vivian Tunison died Monday January 2, 2006, at the age of 83. She was born October 19, 1922, to John and Florence (Young) Rice at Aitkin, Minnesota where she received her education. She married Jesse Franklin Ripley in 1942, at Aitkin, MN. To this union were born Diane, Jerry, and Jim. After losing her husband in an automobile accident, Eileen relocated to Washington State in 1948. Read More	Long time Wenatchee Valley resident, Eileen Vivian Tunison died Monday January 2, 2006, at the age of 83. She was born October 19, 1922, to John and Florence (Young) Rice at Aitkin, Minnesota where she received her education. She married Jesse Franklin Ripley in 1942, at Aitkin, MN. To this union were born Diane, Jerry, and Jim. After losing her husband in an automobile accident, Eileen relocated to Washington State in 1948. She married James Arthur Tunison in 1950, at Waterville, WA. To this union were born Sandy, Cheryl, Dennis, and Janice. Together they owned and operated a wheat ranch on the Waterville plateau, where she drove truck during harvest. They settled in Leavenworth, WA, where Eileen resided until her death. James preceded her in death in 1989. After moving to the Wenatchee Valley, Eileen began sharing her talents for cooking at Dusty's In-N-Out, Faye's Cafe´, Das Speisehaus, and ultimately at the Peshastin-Dryden School District as the head of food services. After overseeing the consolidation of the Cascade School District food program, she retired in 1985. She is remembered fondly by students and staff as "Grandma" and the founder of the "no thank you bite." She enjoyed cooking, country music, and her flower gardens. Eileen could light up a room with her smile and entertain all with her "dance-a-jig." She was a master at manipulating spices. No one left her home hungry or without a hug. She loved God dearly and was a member of the Cashmere Church of Christ. Briefly on earth, now in the loving arms of God, forever in our hearts. Always remember she "Loved You Bunches!" Survivors include her children, Diane (Sam) Flippins, Hilmar, CA, Jerry (Connie) Ripley, Cashmere, WA, Jim (Trudi) Ripley, Wenatchee, WA, Sandy (Louis) Brender, Leavenworth, WA, Cheryl Clark, Rock Island, WA, Janice (Rob) Dennis, Peshastin, WA; brother, Norman Rice, Cohasset, MN; sister, Rachel (Ridgey) Pearson, Yuma, AZ; sister at heart, Betty (Al) Lockhart, Leavenworth, WA; seventeen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Besides her two husbands, she was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Dennis Tunison; her grandson, Jim Ripley, Jr; and her sister, Helen Phegley. A Celebration of Eileen's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2006, at Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, WA. Visitation will be Friday, January 6, 2006, from 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the VFW, or the charity of your choice. Arrangements have been made by Ward's Funeral Chapel.
