Burial was in the Flora Lutheran Cemetery at Flora. He died July 21, 2003 at his farm home. Pastor Reuben Schnaidt officiated. Arlys Bergrud was soloist and Rachel Markestad was organist. The Nelson Funeral Home of Maddock was in charge of arrangements. Einer Gotfred Nelson was born July 14, 1915 in South Viking Township, rural Maddock, to Oscar and Louise Sorenson Nelson. He was reared there and educated at the Antelope Valley School. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Shelby, Minn. On Oct. 6, 1938 he married Olga Sylling at Sheyenne. They bought a farm in West Antelope Valley Township near Flora in 1942 and he lived there until his death. He was baptized and confirmed at Viking Lutheran Church, rural Maddock. He was a member of the Flora Lutheran Church until it closed and currently was a member of North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock. He served on the boards of the Flora Lutheran Church, Flora Lutheran Cemetery and Flora School. He was named an Honorary Chapter Farmer by the A.S. Gibbens FFA Chapter of Maddock. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry (Sharon) Nelson of Discovery Bay, Calif. and Lonnie Nelson of Maddock; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Vern (Virginia) Nelson of Olympia, Wash., Irvin (Dorothy) Nelson of Devils Lake and Quintin (Ruth) Nelson of Harrisburg, Ore.; and two sisters, Bergliot Patterson of Tacoma, Wash. and Dorothy (Duane) Nelson of Bismarck. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donnie Nelson; a daughter, Elvina Nelson; two brothers, Nelius and Bjarne Nelson; and three sisters, Florence Hennig, Norma Haug and Irene Ellingson.
