Description	:	After many years of suffering, Mr. Ekke Rieken died at his home on 2nd street last Saturday night. The deceased was born in Shiron, Germany, Oct. 18, 1835. After having emigrated to this country he entered into holy wedlock with Rieka Clausen on the 21st of May, 1873, in Peoria, Ill. To this union were born eight children, seven of whom are living, namely: Mrs. H. F. Spiegel, Mrs. W. D. Schwebke, Mrs. H. T. Michael, Henry, George, Ed and Rieka Rieken. The deceased was born in Shiron, Germany, Oct. 18, 1835. After having emigrated to this country he entered into holy wedlock with Rieka Clausen on the 21st of May, 1873, in Peoria, Ill. To this union were born eight children, seven of whom are living, namely: Mrs. H. F. Spiegel, Mrs. W. D. Schwebke, Mrs. H. T. Michael, Henry, George, Ed and Rieka Rieken. In the year 1890 Mr. Rieken came with his family to Nebraska, taking up his abode at Humphrey. After two years they moved to Whitten valley, where they remained four years, whence they again moved, this time into the neighborhood of Cedar Rapids, where they also stayed four years. From Cedar Rapids they came to Albion which has been their place of residence for the last twelve years. Mr. Rieken died last Saturday night after 32 years of intense suffering, which he bore patiently, at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 19 days. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, 7 children, 22 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 in the Lutheran Church, Rev. J. Burkhart officiating.
