She was one of four children of Emil and Lenora (Hilgenkamp) Dunklau and grew up on the family farm near Arlington. She was baptized on April 4, 1937 and was confirmed on April 1, 1951. Read More	Elaine Eleanor (Dunklau) Hilgenkamp, 80 March 21, 1937 ~ December 1, 2017 Elaine was born on March 21, 1937 in Arlington, Nebraska. She was one of four children of Emil and Lenora (Hilgenkamp) Dunklau and grew up on the family farm near Arlington. She was baptized on April 4, 1937 and was confirmed on April 1, 1951. Elaine loved sports and attended Fremont High School so she could play basketball; graduated in 1955. On March 17, 1957, Elaine was united in marriage to Ronald Hilgenkamp. They were blessed with 3 daughters, Sandra, Sheryl and Susan. Elaine worked in the office at Hormel, and made being a homemaker her priority after the children came along. Once and empty nester, Elaine went to work doing what she loved best—food preparation. She assisted with food service in the cafeteria at Arlington Public Schools and Rose Garden catering. A devoted farm wife, she kept busy running errands with and for Ron. She assisted with many responsibilities on the farm as well, from field cultivating to bean walking. Sports pulled at her heart strings, and if she wasn’t playing or coaching sports, she was in the bleachers cheering her favorite teams on. Elaine loved to bake and share gifts from her kitchen with all who visited and many in need. Her freezer was consistently stocked to send off plenty of homemade goodies with her grandkids and grea-grandkids. Elaine was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed working with the Women’s League and supporting Ron with his Lutheran Layman’s League volunteerism. Again, Elaine liked to help with kitchen duties at the church, folding bulletins, and she was especially fond of planting flowers and helping groom the church’s landscape. Volunteering to paint for Habitat for Humanity and serving as a hospital volunteer grew her world of friendships and gave her reasons to keep busy. The grandkids loved grandma’s spirit of adventure and her competitiveness at the hoop and at cards. She loved to attend their extra-curricular activities: sports, music and even dusty motor-cross events. Elaine (Dunklau) Hilgenkamp was gently led by God’s hand on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 to live in Heaven with Jesus. Grateful for the 80 years that God shared Elaine with us are her survivors: husband, Ron, Arlington; daughters, Sandra (Brian) Rasmussen, Mead and Sheryl (Alan) Wiese, Filley; son-in-law Galen Buhr, Filley; 9 grandchildren, Kari (Nick) Steinbach, Keli (Brad)Boutwell, Philip (Sarah) Rasmussen, AJ (Makayla) Wiese, McKenzie (Logan) Behrendt, Mitchell Amundson, Chelsea (Landon) Cousins, Taylor, and Tia Buhr; 9 great-grandchildren, Randal, Elaine, Clayton and Landon Steinbach, Payten, Adilynn and Lilyan Boutwell, Taylin Rasmussen and Aubrey Wiese; sisters-in-law, Illene and Donna Dunklau and Delores Stork; brother-in-law, Milton (Kathy )Hilgenkamp all of Arlington; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Susan Buhr and grandson Tayten Buhr; 3 brothers, LeRoy, David and Dyral Dunklau; sister-in-law, Judy Dunklau and brother-in-law, Verdell Stork. The Funeral will be at10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 6 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Arlington. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. and with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, also at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be at St. Paul's Cemetery. The family requests that memorials in Elaine's name be given so that together with members of Christ’s family, funds can be given to the mission to make known the love of Christ and the promise of God’s salvation.
