Meidinger, daughter of Albert and Martha (Neuharth) Meidinger was born December 14, 1924, southeast of Eureka on the family homestead. She attended country school and helped on the family farm. She worked at the Eureka Community Hospital and the Luncheonette. She was united in marriage to Arthur J. Serr on May 3, 1944, at the Eureka Country Reformed Church. They made their home in Eureka. While raising her sons, she also owned and operated the concession stand at the Eureka Ballpark where she worked for 15 years. Her husband died May 22, 2001, and she continued to make Eureka her home. Elaine enjoyed cooking and reading was always relaxing for her. Her true love was baseball and cats. She was a member of Eureka Reformed Church, the church choir and Ladies Aide. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she served as a Memorial Chairperson. In March of 2000, she was chosen the District Legionette of the Year. Survivors include two sons, Steven "Steve" Serr of Leola and Timothy "Tim" (Bonnie) Serr of Eureka, five sisters, Bernice (Eugene) Fischer of Hull, Iowa, Marie (Jack) Job of Billings, Mont., Florence (Gene) Henningson of Tempe, Ariz., Barbara (Jon) Jund of Twin Falls, Idaho, and JoAnn (Jack) Weber of Mesa, Ariz., one brother, Wayne (Diann) Meidinger of Powell, Wyo., and two grandsons, Timothy J. "T.J." Serr and Lorne Serr, both of Eureka. Her parents, husband, one infant daughter, MaryAnn, and one brother, Mark, preceded her in death. Honorary Casketbearers will be the American Legion Auxiliary. Casketbearers will be T.J. Serr, Lorne Serr, David Fischer, David Roggenkamp, Jon Jund and Doug Nelson.
