Elbert Henry Godsey, 68, died Friday, August 3, in the St. Francis Hospital, Maryville, after a long illness. he was a farmer and had worked for the Missouri State Highway Department. The son of John Frankln Godsey and Nora Ann Swaney Godsey, he was born April 26, 1916 in Pickering, graduated from the Skidmore High School in 1934, and had lived in the Skidmore community for 43 years. On April 5, 1941, he married Lucille Smith in Omaha, Neb. Mr. Godsey was a member of the Burr Oak United Methodist Church, the Skidmore Masonic Lodge No. 511, Skidmore O.E.S. No. 402, the Scottish Rite and the Moila Temple Shrine. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucille Godsey of the home; four daughters, Nora Caroline Bayless, Albany, RoAnne Solheim, Maryville, Phyllis Elberta Cole, Savannah, and Karol Jean Godsey, Omaha, Nebr.; his stepmother, Mrs. John Godsey, Skidmore,; two sisters, Sylvia Barrett and Helen Ward, Skidmore; and a half-brother, Glenn Dee Godsey, Marshall; and six grandchildren. Masonic Rites were conducted by the Skidmore Lodge No. 511 at 8 p.m. Monday at the Price Funeral Home in Maryville. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, at the Price Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Lawson officiating. Interment was in the Hillcrest cemetery.
