She was born July 21, 1923, in Pickering, the daughter of John and Nora Swaney Godsey. She married Carl "Pete" Ward Aug. 30, 1945, in St. Joseph. He died in 1995. She was a lifelong resident of Nodaway County and graduated from Skidmore High School. She worked at the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service Office in Maryville, was a secretary at American Bank and the Skidmore School and worked for Barrett Tax Service, all of Skidmore. She was a member of the Sam Albright American Legion Auxiliary and Merry Moment Bridge Club, both of Skidmore, the Clearmont Bridge Club, and the Burr Oak Methodist Church, Skidmore. Also preceded her in death were a son, Wilson Ward, her parents and stepmother, Alma Godsey; a sister, Sylvia Barrett, and a brother, Elbert Godsey. She is survived by a son, Wesley of Skidmore; a daughter, Gail Morris of St. Joseph; a brother, Glenn Godsey of Marshall; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services are Friday at 10 a.m. at the Burr Oak Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in Burr Oak Cemetery. Family visitation is tonight from 7 to 8 at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville. The body will lie in-state at the church from 9 to 10 Friday. Memorials may be made to the church."
