Description	:	Elda Lorena "Connie" Conrad, passed away, August 21, 2008 in Holdrege, Nebraska. She was born February 22, 1913 at Pendennis, Kansas, the daughter of Richard S. and Iva E. (Averill) Hussey. Elda attended rural school in Gove County, Kansas and then Quinter High School in Quinter, Kansas. Read More	Elda Lorena "Connie" Conrad, passed away, August 21, 2008 in Holdrege, Nebraska. She was born February 22, 1913 at Pendennis, Kansas, the daughter of Richard S. and Iva E. (Averill) Hussey. Elda attended rural school in Gove County, Kansas and then Quinter High School in Quinter, Kansas. Following her education, she was united in marriage to Melvin Lindquist and they made their home on a farm near Quinter. To this union three sons were born: Kenneth, Keith and Kennard. In 1936, Elda was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin. On July 16, 1938, Elda was united in marriage to Albert Conrad and the family made their home in Gothenburg, Nebraska. To this union two daughters were born: Linda and Patricia. Elda also lovingly accepted Albert's three children: Ella Mae, Mary Jean, and Albert Jr. as her own. The family resided in several area communities until settling to Holdrege in 1941. While in Holdrege, Elda was employed at Brewster Hospital as a circulating nurse in surgery and head of central supply for twenty years. She also served as the bookkeeper for her husband's service station, Connie's Eastside Service. In 1966 she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert. In January of 1994, Elda began to make her home at the Christian Homes Care Community. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Nebraska, and active with the United Methodist Women. Elda loved to crotchet, enjoyed tending to her garden, was an avid reader and wrote a column for the Bertrand Herald newspaper for a number of years. She leaves to mourn her passing her four daughters: Ella Mae Cooksey of Nebraska City, Nebraska, Mary Jean Blum of Kearney, Nebraska, Linda Allen of Yacolt, Washington and Patricia Storz and her husband, Dennis of Holdrege; four sons: Kenneth Lindquist and his wife, Bonnie of Murphysboro, Illinois, Keith Lindquist of Moody, Missouri, Kennard Lindquist and his wife, Janet of Portland, Oregon and Albert Conrad Jr. and his wife, Beverly of Rapid City, South Dakota; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lois Hussey of Goodland, Kansas and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Dora Hussey, Flossey Crouse and Violet Stahley and her husband, Reginald; two brothers: Phay Hussey and Stephen Hussey; two sons-in-law: Ben Cooksey and Harold Blum and daughter-in-law, Elaine Lindquist.
