Description	:	Elden A. Doll, 90, of Des Moines, passed away on April 9, 2016 at Ramsey Village. Elden was born on August 29, 1925 in Papillion, Nebraska to the late Albert and Anna (Dreessen) Doll. He graduated from Papillion High School in 1943. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1947, in the South Pacific during WWII on the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Cowpens. Read More	Elden A. Doll, 90, of Des Moines, passed away on April 9, 2016 at Ramsey Village. Elden was born on August 29, 1925 in Papillion, Nebraska to the late Albert and Anna (Dreessen) Doll. He graduated from Papillion High School in 1943. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1947, in the South Pacific during WWII on the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Cowpens. He was a radioman 3rd Class. On June 18, 1948 he married Frances B. Bowyer. They raised two sons, Curtis and Douglas. They were married 55 years before Frances’ passing in 2003. Elden worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for 35 years as a switchman, brakeman and conductor. He retired in 1984 and they moved to Sun City, Arizona in 1986. Elden volunteered at the Boswell Hospital in Sun City for 18 years. He was a gifted craftsman. He made many pieces of furniture. They were of a quality equal to Ethan Allen. He was a Nebraska Master Mason and belonged to the Papillion Lodge No. 39 A.F. & A.M. in Papillion for 58 years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Frances; his son, Douglas; brother, Ivan; sister-in-law, Gladys; and his parents, Albert and Anna Doll. Elden is survived by his son, Curtis (Susan) Doll; daughter-in-law, Terri; grandsons, Chris, Brian and Eric (Kacey); great-grandson, Gavin; brother, Lyle; sister-in-law, Darlene; nephews, Gary and Johnny; nieces, Nancy Hilgenkamp and Peggy Pribnow; and many great-nephews, great-nieces and cousins. Per his request, his body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2016 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held in Omaha, Nebraska at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, (www.alz.org). The Doll family wishes to express our appreciation to the caregivers at Ramsey Village who provided Elden with wonderful care while he lived there. A special thanks to his nurses, Danielle and La.
