Description	:	NPUC Gleaner, December 7, 1953 Gosmer - Elder W. A. Gosmer was born in Bridgewater, Washtenaw County, Mich., Oct. 20, 1872. He embraced the present truth through the influence of Seventh-day Adventist neighbors, was baptized in the fall of 1886. He attended Battle Creek College where he spent a number of years in preparation for the work of the ministry. On Aug. 31, 1897, he was united in marriage with Grace Aurora Washburn at Mt. He attended Battle Creek College where he spent a number of years in preparation for the work of the ministry. On Aug. 31, 1897, he was united in marriage with Grace Aurora Washburn at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. In November of that year they responded to a call to go as teachers to the Bay Islands of Spanish Honduras. On passing through Jamaica his companion contracted yellow fever and was laid to rest on the island of Grand Cayman, B.W.I., Dec. 26, 1897. In February of 1898 he returned to the United States, and in the spring of 1901 entered the ministry in Montana. On May 10, 1904, he was united in marriage with Olive Teresa Reed at Bozeman, Mont. Responding to a call to the educational work in 1907, they connected with Walla Walla College as teachers, he being dean of men. Later he was principal of Mt. Ellis Academy at Bozeman, Mont. In 1911, he and his wife connected with the New England Sanitarium where he was an instructor in the Humes' Training School and acted as young people's worker for the institution. Later duties found him principal of Campion Academy, Wyoming Academy and Gem State Academy. He also served as president of the Colorado Conference, Southern Idaho Conference, and Texico Conference. After relinquishing administrative work, Elder Gosmer was pastor of the College Place (Wash.) church for nine years. Following that he became pastor of the Walla Walla (Wash.) and Milton (Ore.) churches, and retired July 1, 1949 after 48 years of active service. Mrs. Gosmer passed away June 12, 1951, and on July 18, 1953, he was united in marriage with Maude Drinkenberg. He died at the St. Helena Sanitarium in California, Oct. 7, 1953.
