Description	:	Funeral services for Eldon E. Croxen, age 83, of Creighton, were Saturday October 29, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at the Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton with the Rev. Terry Huber officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Bazile Mills with military honors provided by American Legion Post #74 and V.F.W. Post #1151 of Creighton. Visitation was one hour prior to services at the Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton. Eldon E. Croxen was born June 3, 1922 to David and Millie (Kilmer) Croxen at Tryon, NE. He died on October 26, 2005 at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. At a young age he moved to Meadow Grove and in 1935 moved to Knox County. He entered the army in 1942. He spent time in England, Germany, and France. He was wounded while taking part in the Normandy Campaign. He received a Good Conduct medal, Bronze Battle Star, EAME Ribbon, and the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion. Over the years, he worked for various farmers, drove gravel truck, and worked on a combine crew that traveled from Texas to Montana. He worked for Overholt Implement for many years. Eldon married Norma Lee Van Buren on October 25, 1963 at Yankton, SD. He enjoyed riding horses all his life. His favorite pastimes included cattle drives and trail rides. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Norma Lee; 11 children, Kathy and David Duesing of Maryville, MO, James and Katherine Kumm of Malad City, ID, Kelly and Layne Pahl of Bazile Mills, NE, Timothy Kumm of Lemoyne, NE, Gary Kumm of Calloway, NE, Kay Croxen and Mike Brown of Creighton, NE, Michael Croxen of Halsy, NE, Kim and Roger Lemke, of Creighton, NE, Krista and J.D. Mach of Big Sky, MT, Karol and Bill Grimes of Big Sky, MT, and Lee and Kendra Croxen of Ericson, NE; his 12 grandchildren are Jeffrey, Nicole, and Logan Brown, Austin and Bronson Pahl, Heath, Marissa, Sheldon, and Hannah Lemke, Ethan Kumm, and Connor and Carter Croxen. His surviving siblings are sister Arlene (Elvin) Koenig, brother Dale (MaryAnn) Croxen, sister Opal Bartos, and sister in law, Margaret Croxen. Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Colburn, Wayne and Gary; one sister, Levona King; and one granddaughter, Rebecca Pahl.
