Description	:	Eldon Kenneth Roberts, 88, Corning, was born to Orlando Steven Roberts and Else Elizabeth Powell on December 27, 1909 near Mt. Etna. He died October 22, 1996 at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston. He attended grade school in rural Adams County and graduated from Corning High School in 1928. After graduation he taught country school. He was married to Twylla Lee, March 13, 1936. They farmed until 1955 when they moved to Corning. He died October 22, 1996 at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston. He attended grade school in rural Adams County and graduated from Corning High School in 1928. After graduation he taught country school. He was married to Twylla Lee, March 13, 1936. They farmed until 1955 when they moved to Corning. He was the editor of the NFO newspaper for two years before being appointed Adams County Assessor whee he worked for 20 years. Mr. Roberts was a conservationist. He made his first terraces in 1945 and people laughter at his crooked rows. He is remembered for his large gardens and flowers, his love of reading, writing, and conversing. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Naomi, a granddaughter, brothers, Howard Roberts and Harrison Roberts. He is survived by his wife, sons, Ray (wife Jan) Roberts, Helena Montana, Allen, St. John, Washington, and Arch (wife Kathy) Roberts, Carlisle; daughters, Rita (husband Gene) Collins, Denver, Colorado, Arleeta (husband Paul) Lenz, Denison, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, seven brothers, and sisters, Charlotte Galusha, Milford, Nebraska, Hylton (wife Margaret) Roberts, Verda Roberts, Jessie (husband Roy) Krauth, all of Corning, Lucille (husband Ted) Krauth, Omaha, Nebraska, Orlando (wife Virginia) Roberts, Tuscon, Arizona, and Lewis (wife Mary Lou) Roberts, Lawrence, Kansas and sister-in-law, Evelyn Roberts, Corning. Services were held October 25, at the United Methodist Church in Corning with Rev. Richard Layman officiating. Burial was in Forest Hills Cemetery, Mt. Etna. Casket bearers were Guy Brace, Ralph Neill, Charles Lyles, Joe Johnston, Merrill Sparks, and Clifford Brown. Memorial may be directed to the American Cancer Society and the United Methodist Church, or the Corning Library. Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Corning was in charge of arrangements.
