Per her wishes, she has been cremated with no public services to be held. Memorials can be directed to the Corning Public Library. Verda Mae Roberts was born August 1, 1919, in Mount Etna, IA the daughter of Orlando Stephen Roberts and Elsie (Powell) Roberts. She will be remembered as a school teacher, caregiver and a favorite "Aunt Birdie" to many nieces and nephews. She was active in politics, a great quilter, and gardener, lover of music and an avid reader and friend of the library. Verda was a member of the Mount Etna Methodist Church. She later transferred her membership to the Corning United Methodist Church. Blessings for two of her lifelong friends, Theresa Boswell and Glee Helvie for their wonderful friendship and support throughout many, many years as they shared in her life in Adams County. A "THANK YOU" to her dedicated physician and friend, Maen Haddadin, M.D. Left to cherish Verda's memory is a brother Lewis Roberts of Lawrence, Kansas. Preceding Verda in death are her parents.
