Information from "Carroll County Arkansas Historical Society, "These were the first" compiled by Jim Lair, Contributed by, Nolan &Barbara McCall: She was born in Missouri, but came to Arkansas with her parents, the late Abrose and Linda (Sarah) Maulding, when she was three years old. They lived on a farm between Berryville and Grandview for several years. When she was 13, the Mauldings sold out and traveled out west, living there only a short time before they returned to the Ozarks. She and William were married in the Ferguson home with the late A.J. (Uncle Jack) Edmonson performing the quiet ceremony with only the family present. These two lived on this farm all their 53 years together, and Mrs. Ferguson still owns the farm. Mr. Ferguson passed away on November 2, 1938. Following his death, Mrs. Ferguson broke up housekeeping and went to live with her daughter in California. She has made California her home for 18 years, but when she really speaks of home, it's back at Grandview. In the early 40's, a tornado robbed her farm of her house, but when she comes back to visit she always goes home to look things over and reminisce a bit over the years past when she had her own little Heaven there on the farm. and her babies and husband close by. She still has in her possession a worn Bible that her father gve her when she was first married and began housekeeping. This, she said, was the one thing that she refused to part with. It is very evident that this book has been a guiding light in her life.
