She attended the old Central Iowa Business College in Marshalltown until she married. Eleanor married James Burk Hart on May 10, 1930, in Marshalltown, Iowa. She worked at Kresge's until their son, Jim, was born. Eleanor operated restaurants with her husband. She was a member of Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church, a member of the Marshalltown chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Rebekah Lodge. Later in life, she was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and the Alpha Iota Honor Society of AIB. After John passed away, Eleanor lived in a hotel in Des Moines where she attended and graduated from AIB, the American Institute of Business, in 1965. Then she was a bookkeeper for the R.D. Stewart Construction Company, a lumber company in Marshalltown. Eleanor married widower William B. "Bud" Hewitt on May 26, 1967. He passed away in 1977 and is also buried at Rose Hill Cemetery with his first wife, Rachel, who died in 1965. Eleanor passed away unexpectedly at home. She was preceded in death by her first husband, her parents, and 3 brothers. Visitation at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home, Marshalltown, until 8:30 a.m. Friday, July 25. Funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 27, at Grace United Methodist Church, with Rev. Henry Riegel in charge.
