Description	:	John Burk Hart was born in Fairfax, South Dakota, and reared in St. Xavier, Montana. Before moving to Marshalltown, John lived and worked on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota. In 1924, he moved to the Marshalltown area. He lived with his father in a house at S. 12th St. and Boone St., Marshalltown. His father died the same year. John married Eleanor Blanche Jay, May 10, 1930, in Marshalltown. Read More	John Burk Hart was born in Fairfax, South Dakota, and reared in St. Xavier, Montana. Before moving to Marshalltown, John lived and worked on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota. In 1924, he moved to the Marshalltown area. He lived with his father in a house at S. 12th St. and Boone St., Marshalltown. His father died the same year. John married Eleanor Blanche Jay, May 10, 1930, in Marshalltown. His employment in Marshalltown included: At a greenhouse. For the light company as a lineman. Gray Iron Foundry: John was the first to run a machine called wheelabrator He trained horses at the Old Fairgrounds and delivered groceries, In the late 1940's, John and his family moved to a farm that Charlie owned outside of Green Mountain, near Marshalltown. There, John cared for cows, hogs, chickens, turkeys, and horses; and helped with haying. The family moved back to Marshalltown from Green Mountain, in the early 1950's, where John remained until his death. With Eleanor, John ran the "Pig Stand" café. He worked for the city at the landfill. Lastly, John worked for Stewart Building Mart, Inc., a lumber company, making truck deliveries. (Stewart was a cousin.) He was working at Stewart's when he passed away. His death was attributed to a heart attack. John was a member of Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church. John is survived by his widow, Eleanor Blanche (Jay) Hart, his son James Burk Hart, and one grandchild; 2 sisters: Ethel Gladys Alley, Dayton, Wyoming; and Myrtle E. Sites, Sullivan, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister. Arrangements were by Pursel-Davis Funeral Home, Marshalltown. Visitation was there until 10 a.m. Thursday, February 14. Funeral services were at Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church, Thursday, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Robert R. MacCanon officiating.
