Harris Passed peacefuly into the arms of her Savior March 4, 2010 at the ranch in Trowbridge where she had been born July 12, 1915, second of seven children of Willoughby and Ruthe Corliss. Read More	Eleanor L. Harris Passed peacefuly into the arms of her Savior March 4, 2010 at the ranch in Trowbridge where she had been born July 12, 1915, second of seven children of Willoughby and Ruthe Corliss. The Corliss family has been on the same piece of land since Will's father, Henry, settled there in 1868. Eleanor graduated from East Nicolaus High, Class of 1933. After attending Heald College in Sacramento, she worked as a bookkeeper for Globe Mills until she married her childhood sweetheart Alton F. Harris in 1936. After spending a short time in Martinez, the couple moved back to the ranch in 1942 to work on the family farm. She spent the rest of her life being "the good wife" praised in Proverbs 31, canning every fruit and vegetable imaginable, freezing the rest, keeping the books for Corliss & Harris Grain Cleaners, sewing much of the family's clothing and teaching 4-H ers to sew. She remained active in Fairview Community Christian Church throughout her life - "doing unto others" in her own quick ways. Eleanor is survived by one sister, Hazel James of San Jose; three first cousins, Ann Dunlap of Pleasant Grove, Alvin Thornton of Sheridan and Ivan Seiler of Chico; her daughter Verna Hughes; three grandsons, Matt, Chris & his wife Brenda, Nate & his wife Kim. She is also survived by three great grandsons, John & his wife Rosalie, Alton and Nathaniel, and one great-great granddaughter Scarlet. Services will be held at 11:00AM Friday, March 12, 2010 at Fairview Church, 1991 Pacific, Trowbridge, followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery. Viewing will be held at Lipp & Sullivan Mortuary, 629 D Street, Marysville on Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 4:00PM- 6:00PM. Contributions may be made to the Charity of your choice. Published in Appeal Democrat from Mar. 7 to Mar. 8, 2010.
