Description	:	Eleanor Mae (Axtell) Kober passed away on Friday, April 13, 2007, at Magnolia Place I. She had been a resident of Magnolia Place I and II for the past two years. She was born on Jan. 24, 1925, in Nebraska, while her family was visiting relatives. She was raised in Glasgow. At the age of 11, her family moved to Billings. She worked over 25 years for School District #2 as a housekeeper. She began at... Read More	Eleanor Mae (Axtell) Kober passed away on Friday, April 13, 2007, at Magnolia Place I. She had been a resident of Magnolia Place I and II for the past two years. She was born on Jan. 24, 1925, in Nebraska, while her family was visiting relatives. She was raised in Glasgow. At the age of 11, her family moved to Billings. She attended Fratt Catholic School and then Senior High until she married Rienhold Kober in 1942. Together, they bought a house and raised three children. She worked over 25 years for School District #2 as a housekeeper. She began at Senior High and was transferred to West High when it opened. She later transferred to Burlington Elementary, where the children called her "Grandma." She was one of the founding families of St. Pius X Church and belonged to the Altar Society until she went to work. She is preceded in death by a son, James, who died at birth; her husband, Rienhold; her parents, Roy and Anna Axtell; her eldest son, Alvin LeRoy; and two brothers, William and LeRoy Axtell. She is survived by a sister, Mary Ellen Fink in Park City; two children, son Ronald (Donna) Kober of Billings, daughter Patricia (Jess) Herman of Broadview; seven grandchildren, Randy Kober, Janine (Jer) Gillis and Doug (Tammy) Erickson, all of Billings, Rodney Kober in Washington, Steven (Marcy) Erickson in Okinawa, Japan, Jeff (Heather) Kober in Mississippi, Michael Herman in Broadview; and 12 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by them all. The family would like to thank everyone that cared for her at Magnolia Place I and II and also Rocky Mountain Hospice. A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 16, at St. Pius X Church. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Rocky Mountain Hospice, 2110 Overland Ave. Suite 111, Billings, MT 59102. Published in the Billings Gazette on 4/14/2007.
