| Description | : | Eleanor Marian Phillips, the daughter of Nels and Margaret Anderson Benson, was born Aug. 24, 1908, in Alta. She received her education in the Alta area and later attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, where she received her teaching degree. On June 7, 1933, Eleanor married Merton Phillips in Clarks Grove, Minn. Following their marriage she taught middle school math in the Terril and Lake Center schools for many years. Eleanor retired in 1966. While living in the Spencer area, she was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of B.P.W. for many years.
