Description	:	Maggie Marie Benson, daughter of Johannes and Anna Anderson was born October 27, 1872, in Kankakee, Ill., and passed away at the Spencer Hospital May 21, 1956 having attained the age of 83 years, 5 months and 25 days. She had been in failing health the past few years. She was admitted to the Spencer Hospital April 12 where she remained until her death. Read More	Maggie Marie Benson, daughter of Johannes and Anna Anderson was born October 27, 1872, in Kankakee, Ill., and passed away at the Spencer Hospital May 21, 1956 having attained the age of 83 years, 5 months and 25 days. She had been in failing health the past few years. She was admitted to the Spencer Hospital April 12 where she remained until her death. Mrs. Benson moved with her parents to a farm in Buena Vista county when she was 11 years old. On February 22, 1899 she was united in holy wedlock to Nels Benson. Before moving to Spencer in 1936, all their married life was spent in Buena Vista county with the exception of nearly a year which was spent in South Dakota. They had observed their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1949, and also their 55th anniversary in 1954. To this union two children were born, namely Clifford and Eleanor. Mrs. Benson was baptized and united with the Elk Baptist church at the age of 12. Her faith in the Lord was real and precious to her in all circumstances. When she moved to Spencer she transferred her membership to the First Baptist church where she was member until her death. When her health permitted she gave unselfishly of her time to the church. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, always looking to the heavenly Father for guidance. Mrs. Benson will also be remembered by her family and friends by her hobby of piecing quilts. She loved to sew and spent many hours sewing and crocheting. Her passing is mourned by her husband, Nels Benson, her son, Clifford of Hollandale, Minnesota, her daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Phillips of Spencer, Iowa. One granddaughter, Mrs. Donna Zajonc of Ann Arbor, Mich., one grandson, Ronald Phillips of Spencer, two great grandchildren, Peter and Michael Zajonc of Ann Arbor, Mich., one brother, Jeaf Anderson of Alta, and a host of relatives and friends.
