Eleanor Minnie Pfantz was born Dec. 31, 1908, to Oscar and Emma (Severidt) Pfantz at State Center, Iowa. As a child, in 1911, the family moved to Leola, S.D., where she attended rural school and later high school. Eleanor was the second oldest of eight children. She worked on the family farm and for other families in the area. Eleanor married Fred A. Glasemann on Dec. 30, 1932, at Leola. They made their home and farmed west of Leola until 1957, when they moved to Aberdeen. Mr. Glasemann passed away July 24, 1962, at the age of 63. Mrs. Glasemann continued to live in the Aberdeen, Warner and Marshalltown, Iowa, areas with their only child, Erwin F. Glasemann, who passed away in 1983 at the age of 48. She then moved into The Homestead, where she resided for 13 years. She was chairman of the Homestead Resident Organization for 11 years, as well as being active in Ladies Aid making quilts. She moved into the Carlyle Apartments in 2001 and then became a resident of the Aberdeen Living Center in June of 2004, where she continued to reside until the time of her death. She is survived by nieces, nephews and her caregivers, Evalyn Smith and Juletta Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, four brothers and three sisters. Casketbearers will be James Smith, Richard Rubel, Bryan Hopf and Rick Kienow. Published in the Aberdeen News on 2/26/2005.
