Description	:	Eleanor N. Logan, 86, formerly of Staunton, Va., died Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Bridgewater Retirement Home in Bridgewater, Va. She was born in Columbia, Pa., the daughter of Fred A. Nolte and Eleanor Knipe Nolte. A graduate of James Madison High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., she received her B.A. in Secondary Education in 1942 from Madison College in Harrisonburg. Logan, 86, formerly of Staunton, Va., died Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Bridgewater Retirement Home in Bridgewater, Va. She was born in Columbia, Pa., the daughter of Fred A. Nolte and Eleanor Knipe Nolte. A graduate of James Madison High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., she received her B.A. in Secondary Education in 1942 from Madison College in Harrisonburg. Mrs. Logan was married to the late Dr. Bernard S Logan for 63 years. After residing in Wisconsin, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, she and her husband moved to Bridgewater in 1959 when he joined the faculty of Bridgewater College. Mrs. Logan taught fifth grade for many years at Dayton Elementary, in Rockingham County and later at McSwain Elementary in Staunton, Va., from 1967 until her retirement in 1984. Mrs. Logan was an active participant in many organizations and civic groups in her community. She volunteered at Staunton's Kings Daughters Hospital and Augusta Medical Center contributing close to 5,000 hours as a patient advocate and tour guide for school groups. She served many years at the Staunton Augusta Church Relief Association (SACRA). She also gave educational tours to school groups at the Woodrow Wilson Birthplace and was a member of the Staunton Music Club. In 1964, she became a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, an honor society of women educators. Eleanor had a lifelong love of music especially singing. This interest began at Madison College as a soprano in the Glee Club and continued as a church choir member. She loved piano and organ as well. Mrs. Logan was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Staunton for over 30 years serving as an elder, circle leader, and choir member. She was recognized by the Women of Covenant Presbyterian with an honorary life membership in the Presbyterian Women of the Presbyterian Church, USA. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Craun of Harrisonburg and Margaret Vincie of The Plains; sons-in-law, Dr. Galen Craun Jr. and John Vincie III; grandchildren, Galen Craun III, Austin Craun, Meghann Vincie and Kaitlyn Vincie,; and three great-granddaughters. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Staunton. The service will be led by the Rev. John Peterson.
