Description	:	Eleanora S. Lathery, 98, of Boonville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, at University Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Evansville. Eleanora was born in Red Bush, Dec. 17, 1917 to the late George and Ida (Griesbaum) Scheessele. She was a nurse, graduating from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing. She was an Army veteran of the Army Nurse Corps, serving in World Ware II in the 50th Field Hospital in Europe. After the war, she served at Percy Jones Army Hospital in battle Creek, Mich. Lathery, 98, of Boonville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, at University Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Evansville. Eleanora was born in Red Bush, Dec. 17, 1917 to the late George and Ida (Griesbaum) Scheessele. She was a nurse, graduating from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing. She was an Army veteran of the Army Nurse Corps, serving in World Ware II in the 50th Field Hospital in Europe. After the war, she served at Percy Jones Army Hospital in battle Creek, Mich. The patients there were mostly battle casualties of the war and their families. She married Carl Lathery in 1949, She and her family returned to Evansville in 1954 again working at St. Mary's Hospital until her retirement in 1984. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic faith, working as the church secretary at St. Rupert Church in Red Bush for 12 years. Eleanora received the Brute Society Award in 2014 and was the oldest member of St. Rupert Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Lathery Sr.; son, John Lathery; grandchildren, Pamela Jo Stephens, Darrell Stephens Jr., Jacob Lee Lathery; siblings, Beatrice Scheessele, Sister Jovita Scheessele OSB; Sister Mary Kenneth Scheessele OSB, Dorothy Lindaur, Esther Browning. Eleanora is survived by her [five] children, [2] siblings, [15] grandchildren...[16] great-grandchildren...burial is in St. Rupert Catholic Cemetery. The Boonville V.F.W. [conducted] the military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rupert Catholic Church and St. Rupert Catholic Cemetery.
