The Rudisill family migrated from Huntingdon County to Chilicothe, Ross County, Ohio, about 1806, and then to West Union, Ross County, Ohio, about 1814. Rudisill, the son of Jonas and Elizabeth (Harr) Rudisill, was born circa 1801 in Huntingdon, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. He died October 18, 1844, in Fort Madison, Iowa. The Rudisill family migrated from Huntingdon County to Chilicothe, Ross County, Ohio, about 1806, and then to West Union, Ross County, Ohio, about 1814. Eleazar married Rosanna Haynes on May 4, 1825, in Ross County, Ohio. They moved to Lee County, Iowa, sometime between 1835 (when their daughter Harriet was born) and 1838 (when their son George was born). On December 1, 1841, Eleazar was issued two federal land patents, over the signature of President John Tyler. One was for 160 acres in what is now part of the City of Fort Madison, and another for 160 acres just north of Fort Madison. Eleazar and Rosanna had eight children: Mary Jane (married Otway Cutler), born November 24, 1826; Martha (married David Brown), born September 21, 1828; Nelson, born October 2, 1830; Milton, born August 26, 1833; Harriet Louisa (married Francis M. Applegate), born November 17, 1835; George, born April 22, 1838; Jonah, born March 25, 1841; and Ann Elizabeth, born October 13, 1843. Eleazar’s three greats grandfather was Hans Rüdisüli, who was baptized in Frümsen, Sax Parish, Kanton St Gallen, Switzerland, and who died May 26, 1723, in Michelfeld, Germany.
