Description	:	SUNNYSIDE - Eleda P. Larson, age 92 of Mabton, died May 18, 2007 in Sunnyside, WA. She was born August 14, 1914 at Havelock, N. D. to Inga and Peder Pederson. In 1918 they moved near Peever, S.D. later near Sisseton, S. D., where she received her education graduating from Sisseton High School in 1932. The family later moved to a farm near Summit, S.D. In 1918 they moved near Peever, S.D. later near Sisseton, S. D., where she received her education graduating from Sisseton High School in 1932. The family later moved to a farm near Summit, S.D. Eleda was employed in Denver, CO for 3 years and St. Paul, Minn. for 1 year. On Sept. 18, 1937, she and Lester Larson were married at Watertown, S.D., farming near Summit, S.D. In Nov. of 1941 they moved to Hawthorne, CA. where her husband was employed at Northrop Aircraft during the war. In 1945 they came to Sunnyside, WA and in Jan. 1946 moved to a farm on McGee Rd. where they farmed, retiring in 1976. During this time Eleda occasionally worked at many different warehouses to help keep the farm going. After Lester's death in Dec. of 1993, Eleda continued to live on the "farm" until June of 2004, at which time she moved into Hillcrest Manor to recuperate from injuries suffered from a fall at home. She was very active in her church: teaching Sunday school for many years, holding many offices in the A.L.C.W. and women's bible study groups. She loved raising flowers, crocheting, crafts, and reading. Eleda is survived by 2 daughters; Joann & Stuart Read of Lacey, WA, Joyce & Tom Short of Woodinville, WA, a son Norman Larson of Mabton, WA, A grandson Andrew & (Mary) Short and their children Ryan & Caitlin, a granddaughter Susan & (Craig) Lemke and their children Peter & Jacqueline. One brother-in-law, Palmer Larson of Sioux Falls, SD; 4 sisters-in-law: Adeline Pederson of Sioux Falls, SD; Hazel Larson of Watertown, SD; Arlene Larson of Summit, SD; and Mavis Larson of Granger, WA. Also several nieces and nephews. Elda was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers (George, Hileman, Palmer), 2 sisters (Julianne, Edna), 2 grandsons, and her husband Lester. Viewing and visitation will be held Wednesday, May 23, from 1:00 6:00 PM at the Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 24, at 1:30 PM at the Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Burial will be in the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA.
