Description	:	El McMullen, a resident of Villisca and vicinity for more than thirty-five years died Tuesday evening at his home on west Fourth Street, his death resulting from a complication of diseases incident to old age. He was born July 7, 1849 in Dark County, Ohio and was 77 years old at his death When he was three months of age his parents died of a fever, leaving five small children. He was born July 7, 1849 in Dark County, Ohio and was 77 years old at his death When he was three months of age his parents died of a fever, leaving five small children. They were reared by their grandparents who removed to Page County, Iowa in 1855. Mr. McMullen was married to Mary Strickland, whose death occurred in 1876. On November 13, 1879 he was married to Delia R. Thompson of Oskaloosa, Iowa, to which union four children were born, one of whom is deceased. Those who with the wife survive are Mrs. E. J. McBaine of Council Bluffs, Mrs. F. M. Dirrim and Mrs. R. L. Maxey of Villisca. There are also two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Davis of Oakland, California and Mrs. Jane Morledge of Hastings, Nebraska. For many years Mr. McMullen was ended in the wholesale ice cream and ice business in Villisca, later entering the fuel and feed business, from which he was compelled to retire a few mrs ago on account of his failing health. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock with Rev. E. F. Hammond of Red Oak in charge. Music was furnished by the Presbyterian Church quartet and pall bearers were Albert F. and Geo Davie, C. G. English, C. D. Goldberry, Dr. H. A. McIntosh, and Gay Dirrim.
