He died the way he lived and was most content -- quietly, and surrounded by his family. Vic was not perfect, but it is a measure of his life that he garnered the love, honor, and respect of so many people. Those of us who survive him are very proud of our lineage and our heritage. The Draggoo name has been passed on with integrity and dignity. He is survived by Frances (Cathey) Draggoo, his wife of 56 years; four children: Tom and Teri Sue Draggoo of Springfield, OR; Roy and Carol Draggoo of Wenatchee; Jim and Gina Draggoo of Spokane; Vicki and Dale Hoffman of Chelan; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Pat Griffin of East Wenatchee and Betty Stokes of Kennewick. He was preceded in death by his parents Eli and Esther (Kerwin) Draggoo; brothers Jimmy, Clayton, and Charles; and sister Maxine. In addition to his natural children, many others looked to Vic as the father figure in their lives. Vic was born in Yakima on Jan. 24, 1921. Raised in North Central Washington, he developed a lifelong love of fishing and hunting. He graduated from Okanogan High School in 1937. As a veteran of W.W.II and Korea, he was awarded many commendations including the Bronze Star. After 22 combined years of active duty in the Army and Air Force, he retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1962 to Chelan, where he enjoyed a second career at Valley Evaporating Company. Vic was actively engaged in the lives of his family and provided guidance and love in his gentle way. He was a longtime member of the Lake Chelan UMC, where he served on many committees. Whether it was serving on the school board for 12 years, placing American flags for the VFW, or regaling visitors at the local museum, he was willing to give his time to benefit the community. Vic was very humorous, but he could not tell a joke. He was not musical, but he was the namesake of "The Eli Victor Show." He was an intelligent problem solver, a darn good fisherman, and a pretty fair camp cook. He was a good husband, a good father, a good man -- and we will miss him. Memorials may be made to the Lake Chelan UMC Maintenance Fund, the Dean's Fund for Medical Research at the University of Washington Foundation, or the Chelan Rotary Club "Victor & Frances Draggoo" Scholarship Fund.
