Description	:	Mrs. Elisabeth Gould Richardson was a daughter of Helen Sharp Topliff and Frederick Allen Gould. She died at Memorial Hospital in Cumberland following an illness of several months. She was survived by her husband and their three sons. Her brother, James Frederick "Bud" Gould, also survived her. He died on March 23, 2002 at age 84. On April 21, 1945, Miss Gould married Lt. Horatio Maunsell Richardson, Chaplain Corps, USNR, at Trinity Episcopal Church in her hometown, Arkansas City, Kansas. The Rev. Carlton A. Clark and the Rev. Samuel E. The Rev. Carlton A. Clark and the Rev. Samuel E. West of St. James Episcopal Church of Wichita, Kansas, officiated. Mrs. Donald R. Patterson Jr. of Arkansas City was matron of honor, and the bride's brother, Sgt. James F. Gould, was best man. He was an accomplished classical and jazz musician & played the violin at the wedding ceremony. Prior to WWII, Sgt. Gould had recorded with Charlie "the Bird" Parker, and during the war was a member & soloist with the US Army Band. After a reception held at the parish house, the newlywed couple left for a wedding trip to Montreal, Quebec. During WWII she worked with the American Red Cross as a social worker, serving in Hawaii, after resigning from an executive secretary position at General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY. She had graduated from Arkansas City Junior College and from the Gregg Business College of Chicago. The Richardson family moved to Cumberland, MD, in 1950. Mrs. Richardson graduated cum laude from Frostburg State College in 1964 and in 1965 did graduate work at the Sorbonne in Paris, France. She was teaching Spanish and French at the Braddock Junior High School up until her illness and had earlier taught Spanish and French at Allegany High School.
