Description	:	Horatio Maunsell Richardson Jr. was born to Eliza Lynn and Horatio Maunsell Richardson. He graduated from Clark University in Worcester in 1937 and then earned his Master of Divinity in 1941 at the Episcopal Theological Seminary in Cambridge, MA. After serving as a deacon, he was ordained a priest in 1942 and served as assistant rector at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Pittsfield, MA. The Rev. Read More	Horatio Maunsell Richardson Jr. was born to Eliza Lynn and Horatio Maunsell Richardson. He graduated from Clark University in Worcester in 1937 and then earned his Master of Divinity in 1941 at the Episcopal Theological Seminary in Cambridge, MA. After serving as a deacon, he was ordained a priest in 1942 and served as assistant rector at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Pittsfield, MA. The Rev. Richardson was a Navy Chaplin in the US Navy Reserves from 1943 to 1946, serving two years with the Marines in the South Pacific. At the time of his marriage in 1945, he was stationed at the US Naval Hospital in Newport, RI. Immediately after leaving the USNR, he served at Baltimore churches until he became rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Cumberland, MD, in 1950. While living in Cumberland, he also served as chairman of the Public Housing Commission. The Rev. Richardson was dean of the Cumberland Convocation and the Middle Convocation and later chairman of the Commission on Ministry for the Diocese of Easton. He moved to Wye Mills in 1968 where he was rector of the Old Wye Church until his retirement in 1986. A few years later he was called out of retirement to become rector of St. John's Chapel in Cornersville, MD. Once again he retired in April 1994. Additionally, he served as chaplain of the Kent Island Yacht Club, national Chaplain of the American Clan Gregor Society, and remained a lifelong, avid golfer. He married first the former Miss Elisabeth Houghton Gould in April of 1945 in Arkansas City, Kansas. Together they had three sons. Elisabeth Gould Richardson died on January 30, 1966. The Rev. Richardson married Margery M. Hazelwood, a widow, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, in Cumberland, on August 3, 1968. Their wedding ceremony was solemnized by the Rt. Rev. Richard H. Baker, retired Bishop of North Carolina. The Rev. H. Maunsell Richardson was the author of two books, "The Church on the Fort, 150 Years of Emmanuel Parish" and "Old Wye Church: 250 Years of Existence."
