Description	:	Elise Loretta Huffman was born February 9, 1957, to Arthur and Beverly (Linn) Sturtz in Boone, Iowa. Elise was actively involved in 4-H, cheerleading, and band. She thoroughly enjoyed showing pigs at both the Boone County Fair and Iowa State Fair alongside her sisters. Elise graduated from Boone High School in 1975. Read More	Elise Loretta Huffman was born February 9, 1957, to Arthur and Beverly (Linn) Sturtz in Boone, Iowa. Elise was actively involved in 4-H, cheerleading, and band. She thoroughly enjoyed showing pigs at both the Boone County Fair and Iowa State Fair alongside her sisters. Elise graduated from Boone High School in 1975. She attended Iowa Central Community College, DMACC, and Iowa State University, graduating with her Bachelor of Science degree in 2004. Elise married the love of her life David Huffman on May 12, 1979, at the First Baptist Church in Boone, Iowa. She started her professional career at the Boone County Hospital before transitioning to Iowa State University where she was a research technician at the College of Veterinary Medicine for the past 25 years. Elise was a member of the First Evangelical Free Church and was an active volunteer for the Awana ministry as well as the children’s nursery. In her free time, Elise enjoyed camping, working in her flower garden, following Iowa Hawkeye athletics and spending time with her grandpuppy, Mia. She also enjoyed sharing her musical talent by playing the piano and organ. She was very proud of her children's accomplishments and was a strong woman of faith. Elise passionately served the Lord. Elise passed away peacefully on February 17, 2017, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa, surrounded by her family. Elise is survived by her husband, Dave; her daughter, Ashley (Aaron) Purdum; her son, Ryan (Amanda) Huffman; her mother, Beverly Sturtz; her sisters, Cindy (Daryl) Christensen, Dee (Doug) Eckley and Florilea (Rick) Dennert; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Art; and an infant daughter, Margo.
