March 12, 1908 Waterloo Courier: The funeral of Mrs Louise Schnurstein who died Tuesday Morning Mar 2 at 3 o'clock was postponed until Monday on account of a sister and brother coming from California: Mar 12, 1908 Waverly Independent Mr and Mrs August Nolte and Mrs F Schultz Sr and son returned home from California Saturday evening. Called here by the death of Mrs F Schnorstein sister of Mr Nolte and Mrs Schultz. March 14, 1908 Waterloo Courier Mrs F Schultz and Mrs Nolte of Waverly, who spent the past months in California, arrived home to attend the funeral of their sister From Waverly newspaper Phoneix on the right; Grandmother Schnurstein The widow Louise Schnurstein born Elise Nolte died in Tripoli on March 3, 1908. She was born on February 22, 1838 in Hannover, Germany. She came to this country as a young girl and married Friedrich Schnurstein on June 7, 1863 in Schenectady, N. Y. The marriage produced 10 children, five sons and five daughters. Her husband, as well as one son and two daughters preceded her in death. The Schnursteins came to Iowa in 1869. The departed has lived for several years in Tripoli and was a member of the St. Peter's Church. She had been ill and weak for more than a year and died of a stroke. Christ was her life and belief, and so death was her victory. She lived to the ripe old age of 70 years and 11 days. Survivors include seven children, namely: John, Wilhelm, Fritz, and Eduard Schnurstein, Mrs. Maria Wundfromm, Mrs. Ann Nolting and Mrs. Minna Lewis, as well as 28 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Minna Schultz, and one brother, August Nolte, and many relatives. She was buried on Sunday afternoon in the St. Peter's Cemetery with many in attendance. Pastor A. Schluter officiated. May she rest in peace.
