Read More	Article from the Waverly Phoniex paper Mrs. Minna Schultz Mrs. Minna Schultz, born Nolte, was born on January 5, 1848 in Griesen, Hannover, Germany, where she was baptized and confirmed. At the age of 14, the departed came with her parents to America, and after a year and a half in New York, the parents came with her and her two siblings (brother and sister) to Cook County, Illinois. About three years later the parents came to Bremer County, Iowa, to settle on a farm east of Waverly. There in Cook County, Illinois, the departed married Mr. Friedrich Schultz. She was not quite 18 years old. The ceremony was performed by Pastor F. Hartmann at St. Paul's Evangelical Church in Chicago, Illinois, on August 22, 1865. Soon after the wedding, the young people moved to Maxfield, Bremer County, Iowa, where they rented a farm for a while. Then they bought a farm in Douglas Township. They sold this farm later and bought another farm northwest of Tripoli. God gave the couple 10 children: 6 daughters and 4 sons. Two married daughters preceded the parents in death. They are Mrs. Edward Biermann and Mrs. Ed Kelsey. The Schultz family stayed on the farm northwest of Tripoli until 1901. In this year, they moved to Tripoli and bought the house kitty corner across from the evangelical church on Main Street. That same fall, in October 1901, the husband of the departed died. She was left a widow after 36 years of marriage. In August of this year 1923 the departed sold her house and bought the house across from that of her son-in-law Gustav Böckmann, so that she could be near her daughter with her two sons Carl and John. She was particularly fragile in the last years. She became very ill about two years ago, but came through it well. But it seems that since then, she has been unable to completely regain her will to live. She was weak and often dizzy. About two weeks before the end, on October 11 of this year, the departed fell and injured her right eye and nosebone, perhaps as the result of a light stroke. She seemed to be very sick for two days and was somewhat better on Sunday October 14, so that she could sit up and enjoy herself. Then it went from better to worse and back again. On Tuesday, October 16, she asked to take the Lord's Supper. It went better for 10 days. She could speak a little better and eat a little. Then she felt better for a few days, but on the following Tuesday, October 23, she took a turn for the worse. She slipped away at 3:00 in the afternoon of October 24, at the age of 75 years, 9 months, and 19 days, to rest, as we hope, and then awake in a better life. The departed was a good mother and grandmother; she had been a good model of going to church for her children, son- and daughter-in-laws, and grandchildren. The survivors, who are suffering for the loss of their dear old mother, include 8 children: 4 sons and 4 daughters, who except for two sons are married: F. C. Schultz and wife; Minna Böckmann born Schultz and spouse; Widow Anna Ladage born Schultz of Waverly, Iowa; Wm. Schultz and wife; Carl Schultz and John Schultz; Ida Schwarze born Schultz and spouse; Hulda Krüger born Schultz and spouse of Zumbrota, Minnesota; 28 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Aug. Nolte of Waverly, Iowa, and other relatives and friends. The remains were committed for Christian burial on Sunday, October 28, 1923, after the usual services in the house at 2:00 in the afternoon and then in St. Peter's Church. Pastor Emil Stech officiated.
