Mrs. John Schoon passed away at her home last Sunday morning at four o'clock, following five years of invalidism. She was given tender and devoted care by her husband and children. The death of Mrs. Schoon came at a time when she was most needed in the home. Her small daughters and sons will miss the tender ministrations of their devoted mother. Funeral services for Mrs. Schoon were held yesterday at the family home at 1:45and thereafter at 2 o'clock at St. Matthew's Lutheran church in Monticello. The services were in charge of Rev. Henry L. Adix. Burial was made at Oakwood cemetery. The birth of Mrs. Schoon occurred December 3, 1895, at Langworthy. She was the daughter of J.H.J. and Meta (Zimmerman) Stutt. The latter passed away May 15, 1907. Both her father and stepmother survive her. Her maiden name was Elise Wilhelmina Stutt. She was baptized December 28, 1895, and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in Wayne Township, March 20, 1910, by the late Rev.C. Mardorf. The marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Schoon occurred December 8, 1914, and was performed by Rev. Mardorf. Six children were born to this union: Mrs. Edna Carmichael, of Monticello; Gerald a junior student in the college of commerce at the University of Iowa; and Donald, Marvin, Geraldine, and Irma, at home. In addition to her husband and children she is survived by two grandchildren, Joan and Russell Carmichael, children of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Carmichael. She also has four brothers surviving: Emil, Clarence, George and Alva Stutt. One brother, henry, died in 1925. Mrs. Schoon first became seriously ill in December 1932. At that time her life was despaired of. She rallied, however, but was never as well again. She was given the best of medical care but her illness was such that attending doctors could offer little more than temporary relief. She was in good spirits last Friday but Saturday complained of not feeling so well. Her death occurred at 4 o'clock Sunday morning. Preceding her marriage she was secretary for her father who was a representative in the Iowa state legislature from Jones County. She enjoyed this work and later lived for a year before her marriage with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Stutt. Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Schoon made their home on a farm near Anamosa for a time. Mr. Schoon became seriously ill and due to this fact Mr. and Mrs. Schoon lived with the former's parents until 1916 when they moved to Monticello where they have since made their ho9me. The untimely death of Mrs. Schoon brought sorrow to a host of relatives and friends who join in extending their sympathy to the sorrowing husband and children.
