FOUR COUNTY HOMES SADDENED BY DEATH - Holiday Season Is Sad One For Families Where Loved Ones Are Taken - E. A. Hammill. Funeral services for E. A. Hammill pioneer resident of Hand County, were held from the Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Hammill passed away Sunday at his home in this city. Elisah Avery Hammill was born August 18, 1850, in Defiance county, Ohio, where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Adeline Conrad on January 3, 1871. To this union seven boys and 3 girls were born. Of these children, two died in childhood. In the spring of 1883, they moved to Hand County and filed on a preemption in Rockdale township. Later they filed on a homestead in Glendale township and lived there nineteen years, coming to Miller in September, 1919, where he resided until death. His first wife died March 18, 1889. One year later he was united in marriage to Mary M. Molyneaux. To this union six boys and three girls were born. Six children of this union preceded him in death. Those who survive to mourn his departure are his widow, Mrs. Mary M. Hammil; Elmer of Boston, Mass., Charley of Racine, Wis., Murlen of Atascadero, Calif.; Curtis and Otis of Ree Heights; Mrs Elsie Lomax of Lincoln, Nebr., Bert of Great Falls, Mont.; Mrs. Winifred Schmids of Pendleton, Oregon; Mrs. Cora Engelmann of Wessington; Everett of Miller and Mrs. Mae Sanger of Rockham. Also one sister, Mrs. Katheryn Basset of Walcotville, Indiana. Besides those, there are 37 grand children and 25 great grand children as well as many friends. He died at the ripe age of 83 years, 4 months and 6 days. He was a kind and loving husband and father. A real neighbor and friends. He possessed many sterling qualities of character, one of which was his rugged honesty.
