Description	:	Elisha Hedges, son of Jessie William and Mary Calkins Hedges was born near Buffalo, Erie Co., New York. In 1854 Elisha, Fidelia and their two young sons, Will and Charlie moved to Rockford, Illinois where their youngest son Frank Leslie was born. By 1860 they were back in Colden, Erie Co, New York and remained there for a few years. Elisha was a wagonmaker. Sometime after 1870 this family was on the move again, as they were living in Dak. Read More	Elisha Hedges, son of Jessie William and Mary Calkins Hedges was born near Buffalo, Erie Co., New York. In 1854 Elisha, Fidelia and their two young sons, Will and Charlie moved to Rockford, Illinois where their youngest son Frank Leslie was born. By 1860 they were back in Colden, Erie Co, New York and remained there for a few years. Elisha was a wagonmaker. Sometime after 1870 this family was on the move again, as they were living in Dak. T. in 1880 and 1885. Their youngest son Frank Leslie met and married Emma Jean Dieter in Dak. T. Their middle son Charles married Emma's sister Mary Elizabeth Dieter. Soon the Hedges and Dieter families moved again, this time to Northern Minnesota where they homesteaded in Dieter Township for a few years. There the Hedges and Dieter families built a school house where Emma taught. Fidelia help run a hotel owned by another Dieter family and she also was a post mistress. After homesteading in Northern Minnesota and suffering the cold winters, the Hedges and Dieter families again moved back to Dakota Territory where they settled, this time at Ft. Buford, Williams Co, North Dakota, which had recently been abandoned by the military. One source states they died at Ft.
