Saffer of Emporia died Thursday. Her maiden name was Eliza Davis. She was a sister of A.I. Davis, Mrs. Elma Frost and Mrs. T.B. Frost of Americus. She is also survived by a brother, M.B. Davis, of Parsons, and three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Tils of Coffeyville, Mrs. Barber of Oklahoma, and Mrs. Martha Lemons of Iowa. Mrs. Saffer spent her girlhood days in Americus, and after her marriage to Jacob M. Saffer lived for many years in a farm on Dow creek. The later years of her life were spent in Emporia. She lived nearly all her life in Lyon county and has many friends to mourn her loss. Mrs. Saffer was born in Indiana Oct. 15, 1859, and came to Kansas with her parents in 1869. She was married to J.M. Saffer in 1880, and he died in 1913. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Christian church of Emporia of which she was a member. The services were conducted by Rev. D.F. Cross, pastor of the church. Interment was made in the Rosean cemetery.
