Hatt. She was born at Martins River, Lunenburg Co., Dec. 14th, 1857 and was a daughter of the late David Veinotte and Caroline Hiltz Veinotte. On March 17, 1880 she married Nelson William Hatt and moved to this community where she resided until 1948 when she went to New Germany to live with her grand-daughter Mrs. Raymond Balser and Mr. Balser, last December she moved back to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leslie Banks and Mr. Banks who tenderly cared for her mother during her last illness. She was a member of the Torbrook Baptist Church and a life member of the W.M.A.S. and as long as her health permitted was always present at church and any gathering for the good of the community. Her husband predeceased her 22 yrs. ago as did an only son Howard 21 yrs. ago. Surviving are three daughters (Margaret) Mrs Leslie Banks, (Carrie) Mrs. Arthur Hatt, Torbrook Mines, and (Lottie) Mrs. Harry Stronach of Kingston, a sister(Minnie) Mrs. Albert Boehnar of Chester, a brother James Veinotte of Beech Hill, a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held at the United Church on Wednesday afternoon conducted by her pastor Rev. J.M. Blesedell assisted by Rev. H.S. Bird of Kingston. Pallbearers were four grandsons, Howard, Murray, Karl and Kenneth Stronach of Kingston. The many beautiful flowers bore silent testimony of the deceased. Burial was in the family lot adjoining the United Church.
