Frank, who resided by herself about six and one-fourth miles north of St. Paris, was found dead at her home Tuesday evening by relatives who had become alarmed at her disapperance. The remains appeared as though she had been dead for several days. Mrs. Frank who was 85 years of age lived alone in a little house situated on several acres of land which she owned. She was of a peculiar disposition and always wished to live alone and as she was surrounded by relatives who live near her, she was thought to be comparatively safe. One week ago Monday, Mrs. Frank called upon her son-in-law Issac Pence informing him that she was going to spend several days with some other relatives and for him not to be alarmed at her absence. During the week several people were picking berries in the vicinity of her home and noticed her absence but thought nothing of it, since she had mentioned her visit to her relatives. Tuesday Mr. Pence called at her home with some groceries as he was under the impression she had returned home. Finding the house locked and no signs of life about, he laid the groceries on the doorstep and returned to his home. Pence called various relatives on the phone and found that Mrs. Frank had visited none of them during the week. About nine o'clock Mr. Pence and several others visited the home and broke the door down to gain admission. They found Mrs. Frank's remains in a very bad state of decomposition. She had evidently gone to sleep Monday night and had been stricken with apoplexy as she had fallen from the bed. Her face showed signs of being bruised where her head had struck the floor. Coroner Moore was called and held an investigation to see whether she might have been the victim of foul play. The doors and wondows were found tightly locked, with the exception of the one broken in by Pence and nothing had been disturbed in the house. It is the opinion of the Coroner that Mrs. Frank was stricken with apoplexy or some form of epilepsy and that her death followed. The lamp which stood beside the bed had burned clear out. Mrs. Eliza Frank was born in Delaware county, Ohio, 85 years ago and was the widow of Johnathon Frank. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Marie Pence, Mrs. Alice Pence, Mrs. Victoria Curl, Mrs. Lena Meyers, and two sons, John Frank and William Frank. This is the third time within two days that Coroner Moore has been called to investigate cases but in none of the instances has an inquest been ordered.
