Isaac Pence, died at 6 o'clock Wednesday morning after an illness that had extended over about a year. During the last few weeks she had been in a very critical condition. Mrs. Pence was born September 9, 1855 on a farm five miles north of St. Paris, her maiden name being Frank. Her marriage to Isaac Pence occurred June 23, 1872, their golden wedding anniversary having occurred last June. Early in life she was converted and joined the Mt. Pleasant Baptist church where she always retained her membership. She was a devout christian lady and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her. The husband and three children survive, three children having preceded her in death. The living are Ira Pence, Mrs. Chloea Downey of Rosewood and Mrs. Olive Quilling of Lima. Two brothers and three sisters also survive. They are John and William Frank, Mrs. Alice Pence, Mrs. Harlean Myers of St. Paris and Mrs. Emma Curl of Quincy. Rev. N. Y. Mathews will be in charge of the funeral services which will be held from the Mt. Pleasant church Friday morning at 10:30. Burial will take place in Rosedale cemetery. The Urbana Daily Citizen November 16, 1922 MRS. ISSAC PENCE DIES AT HOME NEAR ST. PARIS WELL KNOWN WEST END RESIDENT LEAVES SEVERAL RELATIVES Mary Elizabeth Pence, aged about 65 years, wife of Issac pence, north of St. Paris, died Wednesday morning at 5 o'clock from complications of diseases following a prolonged illness. Mrs. Pence was well known in the west end of the county, where she had resided practically all her life. Besides the husband, the deceased leaves two daughters, a son and three sisters. The daughters are: Mrs. Joseph Downing, of Rosewood, and Mrs. Andrew Quilling, of Lima; the son, Ira Pence, St. Paris; the sisters, Mrs. Emma Curl, Quincy; Mrs. Alice Pence, St. Paris; and Mrs. Harlena Myers, St. Paris. Six grandchildren are also left. Funeral services will be conducted at the home Friday at 10:30 a. m. and burial will follow in Rosedale cemetery, Carysville, in charge of Bert Richeson, St. Paris undertaker.
