Description	:	She was a daughter of Jabez Gravely Dyer and Martha Evelyn Ivie. Eliza was the 2nd student to enroll at Roanoke Female College, now Averett College. Elizas' parents had opposed her marriage, so she and Doctor eloped on horseback and were married on 22 Dec 1868. By the summer of 1870 the couple had moved to Leaksville, N.C. with their 1st child, Irene King. She also helped organize the Idlewild Club, later called the Leaksville Garden Club.
