Read More	Buried with Sloat family OBITUARY Eliza Emily Grandy was born in St. Lawrence County, New York, August 5th, 1822, and died at Derby, Kan., July 28, 1908, aged 86 years, 11 months, and 23 days. She was married to Harrison C. Moon October 25, 1844, in Cattaraugus county, New York. Of this union six children were born, of whom two died in infancy. In 1853 her husband died, and about four years later she removed, with her four children, to Minnesota, where they endured trials and privations of early pioneer life. November 22, 1860, she was again married. Her second husband was earl Stanley Smith Two daughters were born to them, of whom the elder, Earliss, died at the age of 13. She was left a widow for the second time in January, 1878, and soon after she and her daughter left their Missouri home and came to Kansas, where they have since lived. Four children remain to mourn her loss, besides sixteen grandchildren and her twenty-four great-grand-children. Her eldest daughter, Ars. Arvilla Pugsley, of Armstrong, Iowa, passed away last January. The surviving children are: Edgar A. Moon, of Bluffton, Minn.: Rosetta Vandeusen, Harrison Alvaro Moon and Ermine Sloat, all of Derby. None of her father’s family remain. She was the last to go of a family of nine. Her youngest sister, Mrs. Harriet Page, of Fort Cobb Okla., died November 13, 1907. Mrs. Grandy was converted in New York state when about 20 years of age, and joined the church called the “New Delights,” of which she remained a member until her second marriage, when she transferred her membership to the “United Bretheren,” of which her husband was an active member. Since coming to Kansas her health has not permitted her to attend services, so she has not united with any local church, but retained her membership with the “United Bretheren.” For many years she has been very feeble and has been tenderly cared for by her youngest daughter, with whom she made her home, but, as she said, she was waiting and longing for the summons to be “at rest.” The funeral services were conducted by Rev.
