Babs was born June 10, 1921 in Frontenac, KS to Earl H. and Mary Ann(Monahan) Morey, Sr. She attended area schools, graduating from Frontenac High School with the class of 1939. Survivors include her sisters Rosez Kritzer of Frontenac and Virginia "Lala" Payne of Pittsburg; nieces Jolene Moriconi, Mary Gilmore, Christine White, Babbie Mathews, Karen Doue, Lee Ann Yartz, Sandra Schifferdecker, Rosann Chance, Kimberly O'Donnell, Sharon Morey, Pam Morey, Nancy Morey, Jennifer Morey and Kathy Morey; nephews George Morey, Mike Payne, Jimmy Morey, Steve Merando, Jody Merando, Mike Morey, Billy Morey and Pat Morey; sister-in-law June Morey; along with numerous great nieces and great nephews. Babs was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Kriss Yanko, Clara Mae Merando and Mary Catherine Morey, brothers Jim, Pete, Bill and Earl Jr. "Bull" Morey. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m., Monday, January 4, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Spencer as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Pittsburg. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Sunday at Friskel Funeral Home, 230 E. McKay St. in Frontenac, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friends may call the funeral home after 4 p.m. on Sunday. The family suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Memorial Fund. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Friskel Funeral Home of Frontenac.
