MULBERRY - Charles "Pete" Morey, 91, of Mulberry, died at 12:35 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at Heritage Nursing Home in Girard.
He was born April 12, 1912, at Pittsburg to Earl and Mary Monahan Morey.
He was a retired coal miner and worked for Mackie Clemens Coal Co. for 43 years.
He was raised in Frontenac and graduated from Frontenac High School. He lived in Mulberry most of his life.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arma and the United Mine Workers of America.

Charles 'Pete' Morey
MULBERRY - Charles "Pete" Morey, 91, of Mulberry, died at 12:35 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at Heritage Nursing Home in Girard.
He was born April 12, 1912, at Pittsburg to Earl and Mary Monahan Morey.
He was a retired coal miner and worked for Mackie Clemens Coal Co. for 43 years.
He was raised in Frontenac and graduated from Frontenac High School. He lived in Mulberry most of his life.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arma and the United Mine Workers of America.
He married Bonnie McConnell. She preceded him in death in 1945.
He married Ruth Burke. She preceded him in death in 1974.
He married Rose Spencer on June 5, 1976, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Sandra Schifferdecker of Girard; one son, George Morey of Wichita; one step-son, Clayton Spencer of Mulberry; one step-daughter, Carol Kunstel of Williamsburg, Va.; three sisters, Virginia Payne of Pittsburg, and Elizabeth Morey and Rosez Kritzer, both of Frontenac; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Mae Merando and Kriss Yanko; and three brothers, Jim Morey, Bill Morey, and Earl Morey.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Donald Thissen officiating.
Burial will be at Rosebank Cemetery in Mulberry.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bedene Funeral Home in Arma.
The rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bedene Chapel, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bedene Funeral Home.

MULBERRY — Rose Spencer Morey, 88, of Mulberry, died at 6:25 a.m. Sunday, November 18, 2007 at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center at Pittsburg.
Mrs. Morey was born March 21, 1919 at Fuller, Kansas, the daughter of Steven and Stefenia Timenski Kociolko.
Rose was a homemaker and also worked for the Census Bureau in Pittsburg.
She was raised in Curranville and attended Curranville Grade School. She graduated from Mulberry High School in 1937. She lived in Mulberry most of her life.
She married Carroll Spencer on October 9, 1940 at Clinton, Iowa. Mr. Spencer preceded her in death December 8, 1972.
She later married Charles "Pete" Morey on June 5, 1976 at Arma. Mr. Morey preceded her in death January 18, 2004.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Arma and the American Legion Auxiliary at Mulberry.
Survivors include one son, Clayton Spencer and his wife Gloria of Mulberry, one daughter, Carol Ann Kunstel and her husband Kenny of Williamsburg, Virginia, a stepdaughter, Sandra Schifferdecker and her husband Martin of Girard, a stepson, George Morey and his wife Carolyn of Wichita, 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Kociolko and two brothers, John and Michael Kociolko.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arma with Father Robert McElwee as the celebrant.
Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bedene Funeral Home of Arma.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bedene Chapel where friends may call after 11 a.m. Tuesday.
The family suggests memorials to the Mulberry Funeral Dinner Fund. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
