Read More	Elizabeth Ann Thomsen "Betty" 1927 – 2011 Betty Thomsen, the daughter of Clarence and Mary (Fields) Wilber, was born December 13, 1927 at Paton, Iowa and departed this life March 3, 2011 at the Greene County Long Term Care Facility in Jefferson, Iowa. She lived her life to the age of 83 years, 2 months and 18 days. Betty attended school in Paton and played varsity basketball as an 8th grader. While growing up, Betty helped with the family dairy business; milking cows and helping deliver the milk. She graduated from the Paton High School in 1945. On September 7, 1946, Elizabeth Ann Wilber was united in marriage to Kenneth Thomsen at St. Brigid's Parsonage in Grand Junction. Four children were born to this union. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Paton area until 1963 and then operated the Paton Hardware Store and Flower Shop. They moved to Jefferson in 1973 and Ted managed the S & S Store and Betty was employed at American Athletic for several years. Later she did book-keeping for several businesses and answered the telephone for the Brown Funeral Home for over 25 years. Ted passed away in 1983 and Betty continued to make her home in Jefferson until April of 2010 when she became a resident of the Greene County Long Term Facility. Betty's joy in life was her eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was an avid bowler, loved to fish and enjoyed her needlework. She loved to watch her Chicago Cubs in the summer and the Chicago Bulls in the winter. Betty is survived by her four children; Steve and his wife, Deb, of Carroll, Tom and his wife, Julie, of Sioux City, Kris McPherson and her husband, Mike, of Jefferson and Kathie Thomsen of Jefferson, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a sister Barbara Hansen of Paton and a sister-in-law, Helen Owens of Jefferson. Those who preceded her in death were her parents, husband and a great-grandson, Brady. A remembrance of Betty's life was shared by friends and family at 10:30 A.M. Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Brown Funeral Home in Jefferson. Burial was made in the Paton Township Cemetery near Paton. Casket bearers were Peter Thomsen, Tyson Trunkhill, Matthew Thomsen, Mark Thomsen, Jeff Ritter, Doug Gifford, Tom Murphy and Mike Silbaugh. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
