Description	:	Elizabeth Ann Zajicek was born February 11, 1924 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was the daughter of Frank and Anna Svobda Zajicek. She was raised on a farm in the Cedar Rapids and Toddville area. Betty graduated with the class of 1941 from Toddville High School. Betty married Marvin Ham at St Mary's Catholic Church in Solon, Iowa on February 7, 1945 and began her life as a farmer's wife. Read More	Elizabeth Ann Zajicek was born February 11, 1924 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was the daughter of Frank and Anna Svobda Zajicek. She was raised on a farm in the Cedar Rapids and Toddville area. Betty graduated with the class of 1941 from Toddville High School. Betty married Marvin Ham at St Mary's Catholic Church in Solon, Iowa on February 7, 1945 and began her life as a farmer's wife. She was also mother to five children, Phyllis, Pat, Tom, and twins, Ronnie and Bonnie. The family lived in the Solon area until 1968 when they gave up farming and moved to Coralville, Iowa. Betty then went to work for the Iowa City School District. She was employed as a cook at West High School for many years. Betty and Marvin resided in Coralville until 2002 where she enjoyed many hours with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very devoted to her family. In 2002, both Betty and Marvin made the move to the Solon Care Center so they could continue to be together. Marvin left Betty for the hereafter in 2005 but Betty continued to reside at the Care Center for another 8 years. Betty died peacefully, Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Care Center. She entered the hereafter hand-in-hand with her son, Tom, who also died the same day. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 26 at St Mary's Catholic Church in Solon and burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. Betty is survived by her daughter, Phyllis (Ronald) Meade of Iowa City; a sister, Helen Driscoll of Marion; daughter-in-law, Sharon Ham of Montezuma; sons-in-law, Gary Haman of Iowa City and Rick Noel of Lone Tree; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Ron; son, Tom (who also passed away on March 21, 2013); her daughters, Patricia Haman and Bonnie Noel; siblings, Cecelia Scott and Clarence Zajicek; daughter-in-law, Dawn Ham; brother-in-law, Tom Driscoll; and one grandchild, Merrick Ham.
