Lockrige on September 27, 1865, at Chatham, IL. They at once moved to Deep Water, Henry County, Missouri, whre they settled on a farm in Pleasat Valley in Oakland township. About six years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Lockridge left the home farm in care of their son Fred and moved to Clay Center. Hart was born February 1, 1844 in Putnam County, IN and died in Clay Center, Kansas on August 12, 1907. She was married to J. W. Lockrige on September 27, 1865, at Chatham, IL. They at once moved to Deep Water, Henry County, Missouri, whre they settled on a farm in Pleasat Valley in Oakland township. About six years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Lockridge left the home farm in care of their son Fred and moved to Clay Center. They purchased a home in Riverview where they resided at the time of Mrs. Lockridge's death. To Mr. and Mrs. Lockridge were born seven children, two daughters who died in infancy, and one daughter and four sons now living. Mrs. Lockridge was an ideal woman, whether viewed as a homemaker, mother, neighbor, friend, or in wider social relations of church or society. The keynote of her whole life was unselfish service. Beginning in girlhood when she knit stockings for the boys in blue, throughout her somewhat long life journey, she was loyal to every good cause, looking for a chance to help somebody somewhere. Singularly devoted to her husband and children, yet she found time to devote to the service of the Great Master to whom she gave herself early in life. To the work of the church, to the Woman's Christian Temperance Union cause and to charitable enterprises she enlisted readily and worked faithfully. As she neared the dark river and realized that the boatman's oar had already dipped in the silent stream, she was triumphantly happy. Husband, sons, daughter, all at her bedside, saw the loved one pass away as a Christian should go-fearlesly, peacefully, and joyously.
